MPEG-7 Homogeneous Texture Descriptor. MPEG-7 Demo demonstrate application of the MPEG-7 Homogeneous Texture Descriptor in retrieval.


The dataset consists of 54 large aerial images of the Santa Barbara, California, region. Each image is segmented into 1681 tiles using a rectangular grid. Each tile is a gray-scale image of size 128 by 128 pixels. There is a total of 90774 tiles in the dataset.

The Texture Descriptor is extracted from each tile. The descriptor is used to perform similarity based retrieval using a query-by-example paradigm and Euclidean distance.

Demo Instructions

  1. Select one of the large aerial images by clicking on "Browse Large Images".
  2. Click on an area of interest in the image. The chosen tile will appear in the top-left frame.
  3. Retrieve the tiles most similar to the selected tile by clicking on "SEARCH".
  4. Specify the number of retrievals in the "# Matches" box.
